| m-Eldit is a limited mobile version of ELDIT system (http://www.eurac.edu/Eldit). It is a collection of texts and words for preparation for the exam of bilingualism in South Tyrol. The users might browse through a number of texts and connected words that are previously saved in the cache of the PDA. In contrast to ELDIT it does not contain all arbitrary searched by the user word, but only the ones pre-fetched in the device local memory. As the system is under development the number of misses (the items that the user wants to see, but are not available) might appear. Mobile Eldit works offline, utilizing a caching proxy, called FoxyProxy, thus does not require Internet connection. The proxy provides access to texts and words entries, leaving to the user impression of working online. It also collects in few log files information about the browsing paths of the users and times spent on particular pages. Regular backups of these log files are done on the external memory, if such exists. The system should be utilized through a special browser, called NetFront3, which should be installed on the device (see Instructions section further on). |
